Why we do it:
To boost the spirit of the teachers and equip them with necessary training, and
to lay the foundations for proper psychological, physical and social development
of children in the slums of Mumbai.
What do we do:
LIFE Trust monitors 743 Anganwadi’s in Bandra, Dharavi, Sewri and Wadalas catering to over 20,000 children and 950 teachers. Additionally we conduct several teacher training programs and workshops on various topics including early childhood care, classroom management, preventive health care, nutrition, child rights and women`s rights, in these Anganwadi’s. LIFE also organizes ‘life skill’ classes for adolescent girls to create awareness in family health and hygiene and teach vocational skills.
How do we impact:
The Teachers Training Programs (TTP) reached out to 3668 teachers in 2008-2009, Over 20,000 children, and 200 adolescent girls have been impacted in the slums of Bandra, Dharavi, Sewri and Wadala.
